Ballet- What to Talk About

Hey there, welcome to my blog! Whether you're here because you do ballet, like to watch ballet, or interested in the topic, I'm glad you're here. You're probably wondering why I chose to start a blog about ballet. So let me tell you my backstory.

I started taking ballet classes when I was 5 years old. I wasn't too serious about it and the dance studio I was attending was more tap dancing focused. When I was 13 years old, I switched to a different dance studio that was more ballet-based. By switching dance studios, I had the opportunity to participate in The Nutcracker ballet in a small role. This was when I discovered my passion for ballet and realized that this was something I wanted to do. I continued to participate in ballet for the next 6 years. Although I haven't been able to participate in ballet in college, I still have a strong passion for the art.

In my blog, I write about news in the current ballet world, mental health in dancers, pointe shoes, and the basics techniques of ballet.

THE BASICS

Before we jump into ballet, we have to go over the basics. This section will include things like the average time it takes for a ballerina to move to pointe or the basic steps every ballerina must know. I will also be talking about the different ballet methods such as Balanchine, Cecchetti, Vaganova, etc. Basically, this section is giving an overall view of ballet and what to know.

NEWS

Newspapers

Something that I really would like to touch on in my blog would be news. I figured if I'm blogging about ballet I should be talking about what's going on in the ballet world currently. Whether it's how dance companies are handling COVID-19 or reviewing a new series about ballet on Netflix, it's something that I'm really interested in. It's important to stay up to date on what's happening in the ballet world because things are changing every day.

MENTAL HEALTH

I feel that it is extremely important to talk about mental health in dancers. Many dancers struggle with eating disorders and depression. Ballet is making them feel more under pressure and stressed out. I would be writing about ballerinas recovering from eating disorders, therapy options that are available for dancers, and overall how dancers can take better care of themselves. I know that ballet can seriously affect a dancer's mental health and I would want them to feel comfortable about their struggles.

MY FAVORITES OF BALLET

Lastly, I would want to talk about what I like the most about ballet. Whether it's my favorite principal dancers, favorite ballet companies, favorite ballets, etc.; it's all about what I like. I also might rank some brands of leotards and pointe shoes and putting my favorites at the top.

And that's pretty much it. I might be adding more topics to discuss later on and making new sections to add to my blog. But as for now, I hope to see you again soon!
